Don't Quit Our Day Jobs!

Since baby Ashlynn didn't want to sleep during our official photo session, Michael and I decided to try a little photo shoot of our own to recreate the photo that inspired me to buy the big pom pom hat...see the goal and see the results below. Since we would all like to have somewhere to live and food to eat, neither one of us will be becoming a photographer any time soon :)

We tried to pose Ashlynn like the picture, but we have ABSOLUTELY zero newborn posing skills plus she is ridiculously strong, so we gave up and just tried to get some cute photos. They are interesting for sure! :)

Week 3

Wow! Time is flying! Suddenly our baby was two weeks old! At our two week doctor appointment, everything was great and they said we didn't need to bring Ashlynn back until she was two months old!!! That was completely unbelievable, the doctor was not going to see her for seven weeks. I really wasn't sure that we would actually know what to do with Ashlynn for that long! Great Grandma Peg came to visit at the end of this week, so we had lots of fun visiting with her and the rest of the family. It also provided us with many photo ops!

Newborn Photos

We asked Sarah with Ardmore Photography to do Ashlynn's newborn photos. Sarah (and the photos) were amazing. Ashlynn had slept like an angel every morning for her first 11 days, well, on day 12 when Sarah was scheduled to come over for photos, Ashlynn had other plans. She was awake for three hours straight!! This was unheard of. Sarah was fabulous, she was so patient. During the shoot, I really didn't think the photos were going to turn out, Ashlynn screamed in a lot of the photos and even peed on me...and her bedroom floor....a little poop in the cocoon Nana made her. While this was overwhelming to me, it was all a typical day for Sarah. I just loved all of the photos. Here are a few of our favorites:

Week 2

During Ashlynn's second week Michael went back to work, so Lorie came to stay with us and help me out. On Monday, January 9, we went to the doctor and Ashlynn was up to eight pounds. He gave us the all clear to come back the next week. It was very intimidating to think we wouldn't see the doctor for a whole week!! We did have sadness during this week. Ashlynn's great grandpa Dave passed away. Unfortunately Ashlynn did not get to meet him while he was still here with us. I know that they would have had lots of fun together. Grandpa Tim had shown him many photos of Ashlynn and we will make sure to tell Ashlynn about him as she grows up. Dave's passing has reminded me how precious every moment Ashlynn spends with us and all of our family is. I am trying to remember to take photos so that she can see how loved she is and has been ever since her first day!
