The first night was more than just a little bit of a challenge. It began when Ashlynn didn't have a wet diaper after leaving the hospital. She was on formula at this time, so we knew she was getting enough to eat/drink. I called the after hours nurse at the pediatrician's office. The nurse was great, she said that if Ashlynn didn't have a wet diaper by 11 pm (it was 10 pm) we needed to take her to the emergency room. At 11 pm the nurse called me back, she still hadn't peed. I asked for the nurse to please call the on-call doctor to see if we really needed to take her to the ER. It was the same doctor who had seen her that morning. She said that we needed to feed Ashlynn 2 ounces of formula every three hours. If she didn't have a wet diaper by morning, we needed to take her in. Thankfully Ashlynn had a wet diaper at 11:45 pm. We were so glad we pushed back and didn't head to the ER. Little did we know our fun was just beginning...
At about midnight, our sleeping little angel turned into a gremlin...squeaking, fussing and crying. My first instinct was to laugh because she had been completely silent ALL day and suddenly could make noise. She was awake pretty much all night and we tried every bed-like device we had:
The Nap Nanny

The Moses Basket

The Bassinet

No photos, but we also tried Mommy as a bed option. :)
Eventually she slept for longer than 30 minutes. Here is the aftermath of the night in our bedroom:
